What is WSSMA?

WSSMA Medical Assistants About Washington State-01.jpg

The Washington State Society of Medical Assistants serves the medical assisting community in Washington State.

We are part of a three level organization consisting of the national (AAMA) at the National level, the State Society (WSSMA) as a State affiliate of the AAMA, and our County Chapters on the local level.

We often liken this tri-level organization to a pyramid. If you are a member of the AAMA, you are also a WSSMA member as well as a local chapter member!

Those members not having access to a local chapter are considered -Members-at-Large, and have all of the benefits of membership. They can attend any chapter function as a guest with member benefits!

What is the AAMA?

The AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) is a national organization dedicated to promoting the professional identity and stature of its members and the medical assisting profession through education and credentialing.

WSSMA's Relationship with AAMA

The AAMA is a “tri-level” organization connected to the individual state societies and also to the county chapters. When one becomes a member of the AAMA, membership is also provided to their state society and the chapter of their choice, usually the chapter where they reside.
